Augustus Saint-Gaudens' original sketch for his iconic Double Eagle design featured a Winged Liberty figure holding a shield. Using as much of the sculpture as possible from an actual coin, the relief was increased and wings, shield, and stars were added by Daniel Carr. This concept shows what the original version might have looked like if carried to fruition.
Size: 34mm Composition: 999 Silver Weight: 1+ troy oz Edge: Smooth Finish: Satin Final Mintage: See Home page.

I bought a few items from Daniel Carr 15 years ago.
Looking through my coins I found a few and decided to see if he's still sold any. I'm sorry I missed out on some of his work the last 15 years but I'm buying more now and I will enjoy them until I pass them on.
He does really good work.

I went to a coin show in San Jose where they had the (as I recall) one coin that they produced of this in gold. I realized how beautiful it was and have always wanted it... so feel this was a great idea and is a beautiful execution of the original concept. The high relief is beautiful on both this and the 2008 high-relief coin from the Mint. But it's great to have one I can just have around and enjoy looking at. Thanks again for a great design!
