2011 is the 150th anniversary of the outbreak of the Civil War and the Confederate States coinage. The Confederacy minted 1861 half dollars using the Union Seated Liberty obverse paired with a Confederate shield reverse. No Confederate Double Eagles were originally minted. But if they were, they would have looked like this coin. Original obverse design by USA / James B. Longacre. Original reverse by CSA / A.H.M. Peterson.
Size: 34.0mm Composition: Brass Weight: 20.6 grams Edge: Smooth (marked "BRASS STRUCK DEC 2011 150TH A") Finish: Satin Final Mintage: See Home page.
