Reverse with "TWENTY DOLLARS" (not legal tender).
Broad-struck over original US Mint Saint-Gaudens gold double eagles of 1908-1928.
The controversial 1933 Saint-Gaudens gold Double Eagles were the last produced by the US Mint. Private ownership of them was subsequently outlawed, except for one example which was sold by the US Government to an anonymous buyer for approximately 7 million dollars. This faithful "1934" over-strike imagines what might have happened had President Roosevelt not outlawed the use of gold as currency in 1933.
Size: About 35.0mm (slightly larger than original). Composition: .900 Gold Weight: About 33 grams. Edge: Original raised letter edge shows. Finish: Satin. Final Mintage: See Home page.
