1933 is a notorious year for American gold coinage, with the confiscation of the 1933 $20 gold Double Eagles and the very limited production of 1933 Native-Head $10 gold Eagles. After 1916, the only Native-Head $5 gold Half-Eagle produced was the (rare) 1929 issue.

All are over-struck on US $5 gold Half-Eagles originally minted from 1908-1916.

Since the design details on the host coins are mostly incuse, some ghosting of the original design details is inevitable.

NOTE: Defacing of US coins is legal so long as the defacement isn't for fraudulent purposes.

Do not attempt to use these as legal tender. This product is NOT endorsed or approved by the US Mint, US Treasury, or US Government.

Brassy like an AGE

Nice, daring pieces - too bad they weren’t pickled like the originals so that they had a 24kt gold appearance, rather than the look of a dipped gold piece. I hope that a $2.50 is made to match.
