Proof-like high-grade finish. Over-struck on US Trade Silver Dollar (circa 1873-1878).
Trade Dollars were originally minted from 1873 to 1885 at the Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Carson City Mints. Mintages decreased drastically in later years. In the final year (1885) only five were produced (Philadelphia Mint proofs only). None were ever minted with an “1886” date or “O” mint mark.
NOTE: Defacing of US coins is legal so long as the defacement isn't for fraudulent purposes.
By purchasing one or more of these, the buyer agrees to provide full disclosure of their origin when reselling them.
Since these are over-struck on existing coins, there will be evidence of the original coin design showing since the over-strike is usually not perfectly aligned with the original strike.

Well, I thought I had a favorite from Dan's Fantasy O/S coins until I received the trade dollar today. I can see some doubling with a 5x magnifier but what an awesome coin this is. My new favorite! Keep up the fantastic work, Dan!

What I love about this coin is how the proof-like finish has a light satin sheen to it that enhances the already detailed work without the slight harshness that sometimes comes with brilliant proofs. The finish lends a creamy texture to the open fields adding an extra textural dimension to the entire work that makes it especially eye-appealing.
A piece of metallic art more than exonumia and one of Dan's best creations to date.

Received my Trade over-strikes today, and they are the most beautiful coins I own! "Proof-like" and "high grade" only begin to describe these gorgeous creations by Mr. Carr and Moonlight Mint. It is difficult to find words that adequately express how incredible they are.
I was literally in awe after opening the package - so transfixed that all I could do was sit there and admire them.
They are by far the gems of my DC/MM collection.
