Some evidence of underlying host coin design may be visible. Housed in a non-PVC flip and includes a small certificate.
A surplus Denver Mint coin press is used in the over-striking process.
Over-struck on Jefferson Nickels of 1942-P, 1942-S, or 1943-1945, with the war-time silver alloy composition.
Obverse "d" mint mark near the date similar to 1968 to present issues. Large "D" mint mark above Monticello similar to 1943-1945 issues. And a small "d" mint mark at right of Monticello similar to 1938-1942 and 1946-1964 issues.
No 1942-D Jefferson Nickels were produced in the silver composition, or with a large "D" mint mark. No Jefferson Nickels ever had more than one mint mark.

Just when I think that Daniel Carr has outdone himself, he rises beyond expectations again. This coin is a masterwork of imagination with the skill of a die cutter. I shall enthusiastically return for his next fantasy piece.

This is by far my favorite overstrike from the Fall 2020 offerings. What a cool idea to use each mintmark location!!
