Morgan Dollars were originally minted from 1878 to 1904. After 17 years, Morgan Dollars were minted again in 1921.
No Morgan Dollars were originally minted with a ā1906ā date.
This ā1906-Dā over-strike represents a "what if ?" scenario where the Denver Mint produced silver dollars during the first year of operation. It has a large wide "D" mint mark similar in style to the coins that the Denver Mint produced in 1906 (dime, quarter-dollar, half-dollar, $5 gold, $10 gold, $20 gold).
Since these are over-struck on genuine coins, they have the correct weight (no metal is added or removed), correct metallic content, and correct diameter and edge type.
There may be faint evidence of the original coin design showing since the over-strike is usually not perfectly aligned with the original strike.
All the over-strikes are privately performed using a surplus Denver Mint coin press.
All are struck on Morgan Silver Dollars originally minted from 1878-1904 and 1921.
NOTE: Defacing of US coins is legal so long as the defacement isn't for fraudulent purposes.
By purchasing one or more of these, the buyer agrees to provide full disclosure of their origin when reselling them.
Failure to provide potential buyers with complete and accurate information when offering these could result in criminal and/or civil fraud charges.
In other words, don't try to sell to unaware buyers as original coins of this date.
Do not attempt to use these as legal tender.

After watching a YouTube video put on by Ben the Coin Geek of Old Pueblo Coin in Arizona, I purchased a couple of coins off ebay and have been buying Daniel Carr's coins as they come up on his website ever since. This one doesn't disappoint either. Just stunning work.
