"1848 Oregon Trail" Silver Eagle Over-Strike

Your Price: USD $115.00
Item Number: mm_0100_ot_1848

Premium quality, individually-handled. Some evidence of underlying host coin design may be faintly visible. Housed in a non-PVC flip and includes a small certificate. Obverse and reverse designs from the Oregon Trail half dollar by Laura & James Fraser.

Each "1848 Oregon Trail" starts out as a US Mint produced Silver Eagle dollar. They are then privately over-struck with template dies to impart the original Oregon Trail designs from the commemorative Half Dollar of 1926-1939. A surplus Denver Mint coin press is used in the over-striking process.

NOTE: Defacing of US coins is legal so long as the defacement isn't for fraudulent purposes. By purchasing one or more of these, the buyer agrees to provide full disclosure of their origin when reselling them. Failure to provide potential buyers with complete and accurate information when offering these could result in criminal and/or civil fraud charges. In other words, don't try to sell to unaware buyers as original coins of this type.

Do not attempt to use these as legal tender. This product is NOT endorsed or approved by the US Mint, US Treasury, or US Government.

Just received this yesterday. I have been wanting one of Dan's Oregon Trail commemoratives for quite a while. Patience paid off, it is quite fetching. Totally excited to have acquired one.
